Fundamental 15 QHSE Rules
 
  1. Empowerment to Stop, and Obligation to Intervene
    All Saxon employees and subcontractors have the right, and the responsibility to stop any unsafe task or activity deemed to be unsafe.
  2. Risk Assessment
    No task will be completed without first properly assessing the risk associated with the task.
  3. Supervisor Pre-job Discussion
    The supervisor will take the necessary time to review the task with all workers involved.
  4. Permit to Work
    Before conducting any high risk activities a permit to work must be orientated from the authorized Person in Charge.
  5. Working on Energized Equipment
    Work on energized equipment cannot be carried out without first making sure the equipment is properly isolated from all sources of energy.
  6. Confined Space Entry
    Entering a confined space cannot take place without a proper confined space entry plan.
  7. Lifting Operations
    Lifting operations using cranes, winches, or other mechanical lifting equipment cannot commence until the lifting equipment and gear has been inspected and found to be in good condition and certified for use.
  8. Working at Height
    Only those employees who are properly trained and equipped can work at heights above six (6) feet.
  9. Working Alone
    Working alone cannot be undertaken without a designated “working alone” contract.
  10. Driving
    All drivers of company vehicles will be properly licensed, trained, and have suitable experience for the vehicle they will be assigned to.
  11. Alcohol & Drugs
    Employees may not be in possession of, or under the influence of, illicit drugs or alcohol during the execution of work related activities at Saxon.
  12. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    Saxon employees and contractors are required to wear the appropriate PPE for the tasks that they are performing.
  13. Incident Reporting
    All QHSE incidents including near miss must be immediately reported to the line manager.
  14. Training
    The supervisor will only task employees who are properly trained and have suitable experience to complete the task.
  15. Emergency Response Plan
    An Emergency Response Plan will be prepared and be reviewed with all employees, contractors, and customers at the work site.
